Morocco vs Iran

North African Morocco take on middle-easts footballing giants Iran in the opening game of group B. Unfortunately for them the other two teams in their group are Spain and Portugal. So, to have any hopes of reaching the knockout stages both teams will almost certainly need a win from their opening fixture, this makes for an exciting first game.
Morocco come into world cup in very good form having not lost in their last 17 matches. Most of their players ply their trade in the various European Leagues and so they’re players have al least some experience of playing against some top-quality opposition. Most of Iran’s players however are playing in the middle east and their players rarely get to face top quality opposition for club and country.
While both teams play an ultra-defensive brand of football, Morocco do posses some technically gifted players who are capable of cutting up defences. Iran will rely on stopping the opposition playing as they always do. They’re very good a defending and that’s will they’ll probably do for 90-minutes plus.
While it sounds silly to say the first game of the tournament is must win game, unfortunately for these teams it really is a must win game. Both teams will need to go into the games against Spain and Portugal with at least 3 points to have any chance of qualifying out of this hardest of groups.
While I’m expecting this game to be a cagey one for most of the game, I think it will really open in the latter stages of the game as both team especially Morocco go for the win. Not expecting goal fest here but could be a very a good nonetheless.
