What is BTTS betting?
BTTS is a betting market offered by almost all online bookmakers. The bet is for both teams involved in a game to score at least one goal. The BTTS betting market is usually offered with two options, ‘YES’ or ‘NO’. For the ‘YES’ option, both teams must score in the game for the bet to be successful. For the ‘NO’ option booths must NOT score for the bet to be successful. The bet is usually for the duration of a 90-minute game plus any injury time that’s added on, goals in extra-time or from penalty shootouts do not count towards this bet.
Types of BTTS markets
Like all betting markets, there are different variations of the BTTS markets. Here we’ll look at the several types of BTTS markets offered by the most popular betting sites.
this is the most ordinary form of the BTTS markets and the most popular. Pick a game, bet on whether both teams will score in that game or not. Simple.
Match Result & BTTS
for this bet you must choose the match result, home win, draw or away win and whether or not both teams will score in the game or not.
Total Goals & BTTS
for this bet, you can choose whether there will be 3 goals in the game or under and whether both teams will score in the game.
Both Teams to Score in The First Half
this bet only applies to the first half, bet on whether both teams will score in the first half or not. The odds for this bet is usually high since statistically fewer games have both teams scoring in the first half.
Both Teams to Score in The Second Half
same as the first half bet but only applies to the second half. The odds on this bet though is always shorter than the first half bet since more games have both teams scoring in the second half.
BTTS in First Half-Second
This is same as the first half and the second bets but this is a combined of the two. The odds for these bets a lot higher since you’re forecasting more events than just one event but of course with it the chances of the bet coming off gets lower.

BTTS Tip #1
Bet BTTS in play- get higher odds by betting in play rather than pre-match. The longer the game goes without a goal the higher the odds will be for BTTS ‘YES’ bet, conversely, the odds will get shorter for a BTTS ‘NO’ the longer a game goes without a goal. Sometimes it’s possible to get odds on BTTS ‘YES’ even if one of the teams has already scored if the game is in the latter stages of the second half. The longer the game goes without a goal the higher the odds will be for BTTS ‘YES’ bet, conversely, the odds will get shorter for a BTTS ‘NO’ the longer a game goes without a goal. BTTS Tip #2
Bet BTTS on high scoring teams-some teams are naturally offensive and look to win by outscoring their opposition. For these teams, they accept they will concede goals but they rely on themselves to score their opponents. These teams are ripe for BTTS bets as they will always look to score themselves and don’t concentrate on the defending aspect of the game as much. These teams are ripe for BTTS bets as they will always look to score themselves and don’t concentrate on the defending aspect of the game as much. BTTS Tip #5
Avoid defensive teams- In theory, you could bet BTTS ‘NO’ for defensive fixtures but we recommend not betting BTTS ‘NO’ for almost most matches since the chances are always lower of it being successful. There are teams which will happily defend all game and look to steal a goal, their fixtures are a graveyard for the BTTS bets. Avoid these fixtures like the plague unless you’re brave enough to bet BTTS ‘NO’.
BTTS Tip #6
Find a team and stick with them- There are some teams who are great for BTTS bets, one such team is Heracles from the Eredivisie, there seems to be BTTS in all their games.
